My phylosophy and style

My teaching style incorporates common sense and a back to basics approach of good solid horsemanship which is valuable for improving all riders and horses in any discipline of riding.  SAFETY is always #1, whether you are riding or standing in close proximity to a horse.  Ignorance may be bliss, but education is crucial and the only bad questions are the ones not asked.

"The Basics" is a term which is somewhat misleading.  They are more than just beginner steps.  They are fundamental skills which build upon each other, allowing for the logical, and proper, progression in the developement of horse and rider.  The basics do take time.  I am someone who knows what they are and how to get the very best out of the rider and consequently the horse.  There are no deep hidden secrets, expensive gadgets or magic pills which can replace experience.

As you progress over a natural amount of time, watch as you and your horse's muscles become more supple, stronger and his confidence in your work blooms.  The lightbulb will go on and ah-ha!, you'll be reaching your goals and having fun.  The basics are just that and can be carried over into whatever horse you find yourself working with.

I’ve spent years and miles in the saddle, learning, showing and teaching the four more common forms of horseback riding (western, hunt seat "English", jumping and dressage).  My history includes vast experience with all shapes and sizes of the different breeds competing in each discipline.

If you are new to the sport, or experienced and have certain skills you would like work on, or even if you are a seasoned rider and would just like to have a new set of eyes to help evaluate problem areas, I would love to hear from you.  Together we can work on the synergy of horse and rider to create a successful partnership.
